Mt 6:9-10:
“This is how you are to pray. Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven”
Mt 6:9-10:
“This is how you are to pray. Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven”
To know why we all should strive to live in God’s Divine Will, it is vital to start with this passage from the “Our Father” from St. Matthew’s gospel. Known also as the “Lord’s Prayer”, it is the only one given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ, in reply to His disciples’ request “Lord, teach us to pray.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church thus underlines its importance.
In fact, we learn this and much more about what Jesus meant in the Our Father from the Book of Heaven, 36 volumes of private revelations written by Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, the Dominican Tertiary whom Jesus chose to reveal the truths about living in God’s Will to. He tells her:
…(Jesus to Luisa) Therefore, it is so necessary that my Will be done on earth as It is in Heaven, that I had no other interest, nor did I teach any other prayer but the ‘Our Father’. And the Church, faithful executor and depository of my teachings, has it always on Her lips, and in every circumstance. And everyone – learned and ignorant, little and great, priests and lay people, kings and subjects – all pray to Me that my Will be done on earth as It is in Heaven. (Book of Heaven, Volume 15 – May 2, 1923)
Jesus further explains to us that the ‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven’ which He implores from the Father will have its completion and fulfillment when souls on earth live in His Divine Will.
The souls in heaven do God’s will perfectly. They live in God’s Will. Is this possible here on earth? Yes, but only through the eternal love and unmerited Grace of God.
God, being true love, wants to make Himself known and reveal this knowledge about Himself, about His Will, so that everyone can come to know what it means to do or live in His Will on earth as It is in Heaven.
He wants us to have a deeper knowledge of who He is, His true identity as He revealed Himself to Adam and Eve when He infused His own breath, His own life into them.
He wants to reveal that knowledge of Himself and His love that was lost when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. The knowledge lost after their fall into original sin was restored through the obedience of Jesus Christ Himself and through Mary His Mother. God desires to reveal this knowledge of how we can return to that place and purpose for which we were created, which was to live in God’s Will.
If you’ve felt that something has been missing in your spiritual life, then this is where you can learn more on how to grow, not in a human sanctity, but a divine sanctity.
